St. Petersburg will host ICM 2022

St. Petersburg wins bid to host ICM 2022 beating Paris by 83 to 63 at the IMU General Assembly in São Paulo on July 29, 2018. ICM 2022 will be the second ICM in Russia in history, after the 1966 Moscow event.

The Russian bid was presented by the Fields medalist Stanislav Smirnov and by the bid organizing committee head Arkady Dvorkovich. The bid includes

• visa-free entry to all ICM participants,
• 1,000 Travel Grants with full financial support for mathematicians from developing countries,
• full financial support for 1,300 students from remote parts of Russia and former Soviet Republics,
• more.

ICM 2022 in St. Petersburg will greatly increase the level of  international mathematical cooperation in Russia.
